In February I noticed that Walmart started selling Outdoor Products brand trekking poles. These poles have "latch locks" that appear the same at Black Diamond "flick locks". This type of closing mechanism is typically thought of as being superior to "twist lock" mechanisms seen on Leki and most other brands. Each pole is around $15. The weight is probably about 10 oz. apiece, but you can take off the straps or baskets if you don't use those. Also, you could replace the "heavy" hand grips with a lighter weight alternative for even more weight savings.
